AL FRESCO SHAKESPEARE COMING TO DITCHINGHAM HALL IN JUNE
Al fresco Shakespeare is coming to a stately home in south Norfolk next month, when the Rain or Shine Theatre Company present ‘Twelfth Night’, one of the bard’s most entertaining comedies, at Ditchingham Hall, with proceeds going to the Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind.
At the event, on Friday 16th June, visitors will have the chance to explore the celebrated and beautiful gardens at the hall and enjoy a picnic from 5pm, with the performance starting at 7.30pm.
This is the third year in a row that the Gloucester-based company has performed at Ditchingham, with their performance of A Midsummer Night’s Cream last July raising over £4,000 for the East Coast Hospice Appeal.
NNAB fundraiser Donna Minto said, “we are thrilled to have been chosen by the Ditchingham Estate to be the charity benefitting from this year’s al fresco Shakespeare performance. It promises to be a really enjoyable evening, and we would urge people to get in quickly and book their tickets.
“We are extremely grateful to Lord and Lady Ferrers for allowing us the use of their beautiful home, and for the generous support they are giving the NNAB in staging this event.”
The ever-popular comedy Twelfth Night was first performed in 1602, and was in fact the first Shakespeare play to be performed on television, in 1937. The work includes many famous lines such as ‘If music be the food of love, play on’, ‘Better a witty fool than a foolish wit’ and ‘Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them’.
Tickets for the event cost £13 for adults and £6 for children, and are available at http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/event/275251, or by calling the NNAB on 01603 629558.
