The importance of instilling ‘employability’ skills in young people will be the focus of the first in a series of business breakfast to be held at the Atrium at North Walsham High School in July, which will give the town’s business leaders the chance to network, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and find out about the pioneering mentoring project which currently has over 100 business mentors working with over 250 students at the school.

Run in conjunction with Regenerate North Walsham and Just North Walsham, the breakfast will feature a number of speakers, amongst them Paul Clark, assistant head teacher at the school, who said, “Helping young people be ready for the world of work, and to realise that they can have higher aspirations, is such an important part of their education, alongside our core task of helping them to achieve the qualifications they will need in later life.

“This is equally vital for the local economy, because this is the workforce of the future, and if we can equip them with the skills to be productive and useful employees, then everybody benefits.

“Everyone who is now in business was once a school student – we think some of them might be surprised at how seriously we take equipping today’s students for the world of work, alongside the important task of helping them gain the qualifications which will serve them in their working lives.”

The Business Breakfast takes place from 6.30am on Thursday 9th July at the Atrium at North Walsham High School.  Businesspeople interested in attending can register their interest by emailing Kerry Shepherd at kshepherd3mrl@nsix.org.uk.
