ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY SNOW PLOUGH COMES TO THE RESCUE OF SNOW-BOUND WATTON CARE HOMES
Two care homes in Watton where staff were struggling with snow-bound car parks this morning were rescued by a local company putting its event hire vehicles to a very different use.
Electric Wheels, based at Neaton Business Park in Watton, has pioneered electric-powered vehicles for the event industry, but managing director Chris Hurdle was able to put one of the vehicles through its paces closer to home, when he heard that from Linden Court and Dorrington House care homes in the town were struggling with the snow.
With a snow plough fitted to one of the company’s electric work buggies, Mr Hurdle made short work of clearing the car parks at the homes, allowing staff to get in and out safely – all without creating any exhaust emissions at all.
“With the Covid-19 pandemic, the event hire business is not busy at the moment, so it was a pleasure to use one of our buggies to come to the rescue close to home,” said Mr Hurdle, who launched Electric Wheels in 2019, and now offers a wide range of electric utility vehicles for hire and sale.
Hannah Parker, business support manager at Linden Court, said, “We are really grateful for the snow ploughing services provided by Chris this morning. It is hugely helpful when we are already stretched. As a 24 hour operation, staff need to be able to come and go all day and all night, so having the car park clear of snow is important.”
