FREE SEMINAR TO HELP BUSINESSES TACKLE ONLINE FRAUD

8th May 2016

Tackling digital fraud will be the focus of a free seminar to be hosted jointly by Lovewell Blake and Barclays on Thursday 19th May.

With surveys showing that more than half of all businesses have been the victim of financial crime, and with online fraud the fastest growing type of threat to companies, the seminar will see two fraud experts from Barclays outline the nature of current threats – and how to manage those fraud risks.

Simon Carnell from the bank’s Corporate Fraud Management team will be joined by Business Digital Eagle Joseph Cooksey to provide an overview of the key online threats and the types of fraud which could affect businesses, explain how fraud works, and talk about how to mitigate these threats.  The pair will also touch on other common types of fraud, including invoice fraud.

“Sadly criminals are becoming ever more sophisticated in the way that they target businesses,” said Steven Scarlett, partner at Lovewell Blake, who will introduce the seminar.

“With increasing levels of business being transacted online, and an increasing reliance on IT, all businesses need to be aware of the risks, and be taking steps to reduce the likelihood of them falling victim.”

The free breakfast seminar takes place from 7.45am – 9.15am on Thursday 19th May at Lovewell Blake’s offices on Broadland Business Park, and includes a buffet breakfast.  Places need to be booked in advance, either online at http://www.lovewell-blake.co.uk/events/Digital-fraud-awareness-seminar, or by contacting Bianca Mortimer on 01603 663300 or at b.mortimer@lovewell-blake.co.uk
