GOLF DAY RAISES £4,000 FOR SIGHT LOSS CHARITY
Teams from businesses across Norfolk helped to raise more than £4,000 for Norfolk’s sight loss local charity at a golf day. 72 golfers joined former Norwich City players Jeremy Goss and Grant Holt at Bawburgh Golf Club for the event, in aid of the Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind.
Before the competition got underway, the golfers were treated to a demonstration tee-off by visually-impaired golfer Robin Sizeland, the majority of whose shots flew straight and true down the fairway.
Overall winners of the competition were a team from Aquaterra Energy, consisting of Martin Hardy, Nick Stringer, Sean Lawless and Henry Kilpatrick.
Jeremy Goss, head of fundraising at the charity, said, “We are delighted with the amount raised at our golf day, a sum which was helped considerably by generous sponsorship by Holden Motors, Aquaterra Energy and Barclays, as well as support from Bawburgh Golf Club.
“Watching Robin tee off was inspiring for everybody, showing that sight loss does not necessarily have to mean giving up the things you enjoy – and his tee shots went further and were straighter than many of the sighted golfers who followed him on the tee!”
