INDOOR CLIMBERS REACH NEW HEIGHTS THANKS TO LOVEWELL BLAKE COMMUNITY FUND GRANT

Locals from the age of seven to 70 are climbing high thanks to a grant made to the Morley’s Village and Sports Hall from regional chartered accountancy firm Lovewell Blake.

The £1000 donation, from the Lovewell Blake Community Fund, will be used to purchase adult and child-sized harnesses so that the hall can offer access for more people to its renowned climbing wall, opened in 2016 and one of the biggest in the county.

The wall is one of many sports and leisure facilities at the hall which aims to offer its activities at an affordable rate for everybody.

Corinna Pharaoh, chair of the Morley Village and Sports Hall Trust, said that grants and donations are vital to enabling them to make a range of sports and activities accessible.

“Our climbing wall is a unique community facility, and is well used by people of all ages, from seven to 70,” said Mrs Pharaoh.  “Obviously having the right safety equipment is key to being able to offer access, and this grant will enable us to replace some of our older harnesses and buy more, so that more people can come and use the wall safely.”

Dawn Bradford, a member of Lovewell Blake Community Fund’s committee, added, “This grant was one of 18 we gave out in our most recent grants round to community organisations across Norfolk, Suffolk and east Cambridgeshire.

“Since the Fund was formed 15 years ago, we have distributed more than £320,000 in grants, all of that money raised by staff and partners at the firm.”

Lovewell Blake’s Community Fund is administered by Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Community Foundations.  The next grants round will open in the autumn.
