LOCAL COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS INVITED TO BID FOR SHARE OF CASH WINDFALL

Community organisations across Norfolk, north Suffolk and east Cambridgeshire are being given the chance to bid for a share of a cash windfall, with the launch of the 2017 grant-giving process from Lovewell Blake’s LB150 Fund.

The regional firm of accountants, business advisers and financial planners is inviting charities, voluntary groups and community organisations to bid for grants of up to £2,000 from the Fund, which is distributing money raised by staff and partners at the firm during the past 12 months.

The Fund aims to benefit smaller, often lesser known organisations where such grants would make a real difference to a particular project – making possible something that wouldn’t otherwise happen.

Last year’s grant round saw 14 organisations share a total of £21,000, with cash going to a wide range of organisations including disability and mental health charities, a scout group, a domestic violence and abuse organisation, a lunch club for elderly and disabled people, a counselling service, and a centre for children with autism and other disabilities.

Lovewell Blake’s senior partner, Paul Briddon, urged local organisations to come forward and apply for the grants.  “Working with the Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Community Foundations, we have tried to make the application process as easy as possible, and we really hope that local community organisations will come forward to bid for a share of this year’s fund.

“It is these smaller, less well-known organisations working at grassroots level in our communities which make such a difference, and we are delighted to be able to offer grants again in 2017.”

The LB150 Fund was originally set up in 2008 as part of Lovewell Blake’s 150th anniversary celebrations, with the aim of raising £150,000, for local charities and community groups, in five years.  The firm saw its subsequent fundraising efforts exceed the £200,000 mark last year, and staff and partners continue to take part in a variety of fundraising activities.
