LOWESTOFT ACCOUNTANT SHORTLISTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL AWARD
A Lowestoft accountant has been shortlisted for a national award by a leading professional publication.
Melanie Wright, who is training manager at Lovewell Blake, is a finalist in the ‘Training Manager/Workplace Mentor Of The Year’ category in the PQ Magazine Awards, which recognise excellence in training and career development within the accountancy profession.
Miss Wright, who is based in the firm’s Lowestoft office, is responsible for supporting people in the firm who are working towards professional qualifications – generally around a quarter of Lovewell Blake’s 250 staff at any one time.
She was nominated for the award after she maintained her commitment to supporting trainees despite being diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2016. In a period which saw her endure two operations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she maintained contact with trainees via email and in person when possible.
Miss Wright joined Lovewell Blake as a mature trainee in 1998, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2003. She has been the firm’s training manager since 2005.
The winner of the award will be announced at a ceremony at London’s Café de Paris on 20th February.
- Melanie Wright is fundraising for Breast Cancer Care. Following a sponsored head shave prior to the start of her chemotherapy, she has so far raised over £3,000 for the charity. Anyone wanting to donate can do so at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/melanie-wright55.
