LOWESTOFT BUSINESSES TEST THEIR GENERAL KNOWLEDGE IN FUNDRAISING QUIZ NIGHT
Teams from businesses in the Lowestoft area put their general knowledge to the test while raising £2,000 for a local community fund when they took place in a quiz night in the town.
The Lovewell Blake Lowestoft Quiz saw 86 eager competitors pitting their knowledge against each other at the Rookery Park Golf Club.
A team of staff and friends from Lowestoft-based Norfolk & Suffolk Financial Planners carried off the trophy, which was presented by quiz organiser Sharon Chatfield, who works at Lovewell Blake’s Lowestoft office.
£1,000 was raised on the evening, a sum which was then matched by the partners at Lovewell Blake, meaning that £2,000 has gone into the Lovewell Blake Community Fund, which gives grants to grassroots charities and voluntary organisations across the region.
Since it was set up in 2008, the Fund has distributed grants totalling over £320,000 to organisations across Norfolk, north Suffolk and east Cambridgeshire.
Last month the latest round of grants was announced, including a £1,180 award to Lowestoft and Waveney Breastfeeding Support, a grant of £718 to Waveney Gymnastics Club and a £520 donation to Waveney Wolves American Football Club.
Rachel Flatt, manager at Lovewell Blake’s Lowestoft office, said, “We were delighted to once again receive so much support from the local business community for our fundraising events. It was great to see both familiar faces and new teams who we hope to see back again next year.”
