A Lowestoft woman whose running career so far has been limited to 5km fun runs is aiming to raise £2,000 for cancer charities by tackling her first ever Marathon in London in October – and is limbering up by tackling the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge a month earlier.

Georgina Pell, who works as an accounts assistant at the Lowestoft office of Lovewell Blake, will aim to scale Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis – a total climb of 11,245ft – in a 24 hour period, before competing in the London Marathon just weeks later.

“The most I have ever run is a 5km Race for Life, but I have always wanted to run a marathon and I am up for a challenge,” said Georgina.  “I applied for a place in the London Marathon, and then before hearing whether I had been successful, signed up for the Three Peaks Challenge.

“Now I find myself doing both within a month of each other, which has given me a good incentive to stick to the training.”

Georgina will be supporting local cancer charity Big C with her Three Peaks Challenge, and national cancer charity Cancer Research UK with her marathon – both good causes close to her heart as her grandmother died from cancer a few years ago.

Georgina, who lives in Oulton Broad with her mum and dad, is aiming to complete the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours, and the London Marathon in under five hours.
