NORTH NORFOLK HOLIDAY COTTAGE BUSINESS MARKS ITS HALF CENTURY
A north Norfolk holiday cottage company has celebrated its 50th anniversary with a reception for property owners, where they heard that the firm is facing one of its busiest summers ever.
North Norfolk MP Duncan Baker joined the owners and staff past and present to cut a special cake marking the half-century milestone.
Sheringham-based Keys Holiday Cottages, which was founded in 1972 by friends Sue Bond and Shirley Baxter, is now part of Arnolds Keys, and is based in the firm’s Church Street office.
Keys Holiday Cottages manager Louise Hillman told attendees at the event that the sector has faced some of its greatest challenges over the past few years – but also now enjoyed huge opportunities as well.
“The last few years have certainly brought unprecedented challenges, with a historic global pandemic and economic pressures to name but a few. But the popularity of UK holidays, and of north Norfolk as a destination, is greater perhaps than ever before, and we expect 2022 to be the busiest year in our five decade history.”
That view was backed up by Guy Gowing, managing partner of Arnolds Keys, who said, “North Norfolk’s reputation has been growing for a number of years, and ‘gentrification’ has firmly arrived along our part of the coast.
“This is most notable by the number of investors in holiday homes in the area, and the number of hotels along the coast that have recently been acquired by expanding pub and hotel chains seeking, as they put it, to own properties in the jewel in the crown for UK tourism.”
Keys Holiday Cottages now manages a portfolio of nearly 100 holiday cottages along the north Norfolk coast between Kelling and Mundesley. The firm offers owners a full property management service covering everything from marketing and booking administration to weekly changeovers and property maintenance.
