NORWICH RESTAURANT AND COFFEE SHOP MARKS NATIONAL CHEESE TOASTIE DAY WITH NORFOLK-BASED ‘QUATTRO FORMAGGI’ TOASTIE
A historic Norwich restaurant is celebrating National Cheese Toastie Day (Sunday 27th October) by creating a special all-Norfolk toastie containing four of the county’s most delicious cheeses.
The Britons Arms on Elm Hill features a cheese toastie on its lunch menu every day, but now chef proprietor Richard Ellis has come up with the ‘quattro formaggi’ idea to mark the day, which is a national celebration of one of the UK’s favourite snacks.
The special toastie contains Mrs Temple’s Binham Blue; Norfolk Mardler goats cheese from Fielding Cottage; Norfolk Dapple, produced by Ferndale Farm; and Copys Cloud, a brie style cheese, also from Mrs Temple.
“Our cheese toastie remains one of the most popular dishes on our lunch menu,” said Mr Ellis. “National Cheese Toastie Day seemed the ideal time to showcase some of the fabulous cheeses which are being made here in Norfolk.”
The special toastie will be served with crisps and a salad and will be available throughout the day for the week starting Saturday 26th October.
