POST-COVID RETURN OF ANNUAL CHARITY BUSINESS QUIZ NIGHT RAISES £2340 FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY FUND
Nearly 100 people from 16 businesses in the Lowestoft area have raised £2340 for a local community fund after an annual charity quiz night was held for the first time since before Covid.
The Lovewell Blake Lowestoft Charity Quiz night was established as a firm regular favourite prior to lockdown, and the comeback event saw 94 eager competitors pitting their knowledge against each other at Rookery Park Golf Club.
Eventually the team from solicitors Norton Peskett carried off the trophy.
Rachel Flatt from Lovewell Blake’s Lowestoft office, who organised the quiz, said, “Before Covid the annual quiz was something of a can’t-miss event on the local business calendar, and we are delighted to finally have been able to bring it back.
“We were very pleased with the turnout, and to have raised so much on the night. The money will go into the Lovewell Blake Community Fund, which gives grants to grassroots charities and voluntary organisations across the region.”
Since it was set up in 2008, the Fund has distributed grants totalling over £320,000 to organisations across Norfolk, north Suffolk and east Cambridgeshire. Local recipients in the last grants round included the Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre, which received £2,000 to purchase essential equipment for watersports and navigation activities including wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and a handheld GPS unit, and The Warren Association Trust in Lowestoft, which received £2,000 towards a ‘Creative Camp Corner’ in the new playground at Warren Special School in the town.
