PROPERTY STUDENT CARRIES OFF PRESTIGIOUS AWARD AT FURTHER EDUCATION AWARDS
A student on the ground-breaking Property and Customer Service course at City College Norwich has carried off the prestigious Business and Retail Achievement Award at this year’s City College Further Education Awards.
Callum Ellis, who in February became the first ever winner of the National Propertymark Student of the Year Award, won the accolade, which is sponsored by Arnolds Keys, whose partner Jan Hÿtch led a team from the firm which helped devise and found the course in 2014.
Each winner in the City College Further Education Awards has been nominated by their tutors and lecturers from more than 4,000 who studied at the college last year.
Congratulating Callum, Jan Hÿtch said, “We are always delighted to support this event, recognising as it does the achievements of young people, often overcoming great personal challenges, and demonstrating commitment and determination towards success in their studies.
“It is particularly rewarding to see Callum win this award on his way to embarking on his career in the property profession. He has been an inspiration in his year, both to staff and students. We wish him every success in the future.”
Corrinne Peasgood, principal at City College Norwich, said, “This year’s FE Awards ceremony was a fantastic celebration of excellence and achievement by a group of truly stand-out students from the class of 2017. We are exceptionally proud of our students’ successes, which have been brilliantly supported by our expert teachers and valued employer partners.”
Jan Hÿtch led a team from Arnolds Keys which wrote course materials, as well as helping to mentoring City College tutors so that they were fully up-to-speed with developments in the sector, and to make sure that both the curriculum and the teaching reflected the challenges that the profession – and the young people who enter it – will face in the future.
Staff from Arnolds Keys have also conducted guest lectures for students on the course, which concludes with the students achieving L2 qualifications through the national professional body for estate agency and lettings, Propertymark.
