Scotland painted back into europe as part of nwhs german exchange scheme
22nd Sep 2014
Students at NWHS, with the help of visiting German exchange students, marked the result of the Scottish referendum by repainting the country back onto the pavement map of Europe outside the school’s front door.
The map was originally drawn five years ago by modern languages teacher Simon Weal, and was in need of a brush-up – so the German students had been lending a hand in the task all week.
Having started in the south of the continent, the last piece in the jigsaw was Scotland – and so it was vey apt that the students found themselves painting in the country just hours after it was announced that the Scots had voted to remain within the United Kingdom.
