SISTER ACT AUDIENCES GET IN THE GIVING HABIT AND RAISE OVER £3000 FOR SIGHT LOSS CHARITY
Norfolk’s sight loss charity has received a £3,000 boost, following the generosity of audiences attending performances of Sister Act at Cromer’s Pavilion Theatre.
Cromer and Sheringham Operatic and Dramatic Society chooses a local charity to benefit from collections at their performances each year- and this year the beneficiary was the Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind, which supports people with visual impairments throughout Norfolk to live independent and fulfilled lives.
The smash-hit show played to capacity audiences all week – with audience donations and a £500 donation from CSODS itself boosting its coffers by over £3,000.
Robin Taylor, chairman of CSODS, said, “We are delighted that our sell-out audiences for Sister Act were so generous and that we were able to help raise an amazing amount. Each year CSODS chooses a local charity – or one that is particularly pertinent to one or more of our members and their families – to support via our main musical show on Cromer Pier. NNAB met both of these criteria, so we are especially pleased that such a large sum was collected to add to the Society’s own donation of £500.”
NNAB events officer Donna Minto, who was presented with a cheque on stage on the last night of the production, said, “We would like to thank the incredible generosity of the audiences and CSODS for their donations. I think it is a reflection of the feel-good nature of the show and the amazing performances that audience members were so generous with their donations on their way out of the theatre.”
