‘SPLASH OF SUMMER’ WINS SPONSOR’S CHOICE PRIZE AT ROYAL NORFOLK SHOW ART EXHIBITION
A Norwich artist has been awarded the prestigious ‘Sponsor’s Choice’ prize at the Royal Norfolk Show Art Exhibition.
The Sponsor’s Choice prize was won by Norwich-based artist Karen Keable for her work ‘A Splash of Summer’, a large acrylic painting depicting waves breaking on a beach.
Once again sponsored by Aylsham-based leading regional auction house Keys Fine Art Auctioneers, the exhibition featured over 300 hundred pictures and two dozen sculptures by local artists.
Born in Great Yarmouth, Karen Keable developed her love of drawing and painting during a period spent travelling around the world. On her return to Aberdeen she studied Art at Aberdeen, before moving to Southwold in 1999. She purchased the Southwold Gallery in 2005, and now divides her time between the town and her home in Norwich.
Presenting the Sponsor’s Choice prize, Guy Gowing of Keys Fine Art Auctioneers said, “It is always a joy to come into the Art Show at the Royal Norfolk Show and see so many works by local artists.
“We know very well, through the national and international success of our own East Anglian Art Sales, just what a hotbed of artistic talent this part of the world is, and it is good to see that a very long tradition of artistic excellence in Norfolk and East Anglia is being continued today.”
