STAFF AT YARMOUTH FIRM HAND OVER PRODUCE TO HELP TOWN’S OPEN CHRISTMAS
Kind-hearted staff at a Great Yarmouth firm have handed over a huge pile of food and festive items to help the town’s Open Christmas go with a bang.
Staff at Lovewell Blake’s Yarmouth office have been busy collecting donations of food and cash to support Great Yarmouth Open Christmas, which will provide Christmas lunch, company and entertainment to around 200 people in The Marina Centre complex on Christmas Day.
Open Christmas organisers visited the firm’s North Quay offices to collect the festive produce, which will be combined with other donations to enable the event to take place.
“Our staff have really taken this appeal to their hearts, demonstrating the real meaning of Christmas,” said Jayne Fewkes, who with colleague Julie Jones has co-ordinated the support at Lovewell Blake.
Receiving the donations, Open Christmas committee member Carole Beck said, “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses – and indeed those from further afield – it’s jaw-dropping, it never fails to amaze us. Only with these kinds of donations are we able to offer a real Christmas to hundreds of local people who would otherwise be spending the festive period on their own.”
Great Yarmouth Open Christmas 2016 takes place from 11am to 5pm at The Marina Centre on Marine Parade. The day is completely free, and everyone attending is given a traditional Christmas lunch, company, entertainment and transport if required.
