TEACHERS AND STUDENTS GET MUDDY TO HONOUR FORMER HEAD TEACHER

Teachers, students and parents from North Walsham High School showed they weren’t afraid of the mud when they took part in the Pretty Muddy Race For life at the Norfolk Showground at the weekend, raising nearly £1,000 for Cancer Research UK in honour of former head teacher Caroline Brooker, who lost her battle with cancer on New Year’s Eve.

The team of nine staff members, three students and one parent dressed all in pink to tackle the five kilometre course, including a number of obstacles designed to completely cover participants with mud.

School communications and events manager Suzie Sharp, who was one of those taking part, said, “We all set out together, and some ran, some jogged and some walked the course, but we all tackled the muddy obstacles, with climbing, crawling and even space hoppers designed to get us as filthy as possible.”

Also taking part were PE teacher Kirsten Abel, science teachers Emma Law, Cate Sadler-Barker, Sally Wright and Amy Cooke, science technicians Misba Tasawar and Lucy Emms, English teacher Heather Wilson, students Eleanor Garrard, Rhiannon Holt and Grace Hanley, and parent Shelley Preston.

The 13 were among hundreds of women taking part in the race, organized by Cancer Research UK.
