THRILL SEEKERS SOUGHT FOR 100MPH ZIP WIRE CHALLENGE
Thrill seekers and adrenalin junkies are being offered the chance to throw themselves off a welsh mountain and travel at speeds of up to 100mph along Europe’s longest zip wire – to raise money for Norfolk’s sight loss charity.
The one mile long zip wire at Bethesda in Wales is the fastest in the world – and now the Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind (NNAB) is offering the chance to join fundraiser Jeremy Goss and team to take part in the experience.
The 2017 Zip Wire Challenge comes a year after nine daredevil NNAB fundraisers raised around £5,000 for the charity by stepping off the 500ft high platform and experiencing the zip wire last May, a the former slate quarry near Bangor in North Wales.
“Letting go at the top of the mountain requires considerable nerve, but everyone who took part last year found the experience exhilarating – the closest thing you can get to actual flying,” said Jeremy Goss, fundraising manager at the charity, who will be leading this year’s challenge.
Now the NNAB is seeking a new team of daredevils to take part in the 2017 Challenge, over the weekend of 20th/21st May. Participants pay £80 to take part, which includes transport to Wales, accommodation and the zip wire experience itself, and are asked to pledge to raise a minimum of £150 sponsorship for the charity.
Anyone interested in taking part can contact organisers by emailing jeremygoss@nnab.org.uk or by calling Jeremy or fellow fundraiser Donna Minto on 01603 629558.
