A dedicated team of cyclists has raised an amazing £12,000 for Norfolk’s sight loss charity by taking part in the 2017 Tour de Broads event.

The Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind was one of five Norfolk charities nominated by organisers of the event, which saw around 3,000 cyclists take part in two events in April and August.

A core NNAB team of 54 part in the main event in August, including five blind and visually-impaired cyclists riding tandems with sighted partners.  As well as sponsorship money raised through friends and supporters, the amount raised was also boosted through local businesses sponsoring the shirts worn by the riders.

“We are extremely grateful to all of those who took part and helped raise this amazing amount of money, and in particular to all the businesses who agreed to sponsor our shirts,” said NNAB head of fundraising Jeremy Goss.  “We would like to extend a special thanks to the lead shirt sponsors Inturn Industries, Broadland Group and Creative Sponge.

“The Tour de Broads has grown into a really important event in the calendar, and it is tremendous that the organisers make raising money for worthwhile Norfolk charities a central part of what they do.”
