TWELVE NEW STAFF MEMBERS JOIN NORTH WALSHAM HIGH SCHOOL
North Walsham High School has welcomed ten new teaching staff and two new support staff who are joining the school for the summer term – a move which has in particular strengthened the Science and English departments at the school.
Head teacher Neil Powell welcomed the new staff on the first day of term, saying he felt like a football manager after a particularly successful transfer deadline day.
“Just as an ambitious football club brings in new talent to supplement the team they already have so that they can boost their performance, so we are bringing in some fantastic teachers to join the great team we have at North Walsham High School,” said Mr Powell.
“I’m delighted that we continue to attract some of the best classroom talent to NWHS, which in turn will enable us to deliver improved learning right across the curriculum.”
Joining the staff this term are:
- Assistant head and Special Education Needs co-ordinator Angela Waters, who joins the school’s senior leadership team with responsibility for vulnerable groups as well as the most able students. She is an English teacher and martial arts instructor, who will also run the school’s Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme.
- Science teachers Daniel Kiff (who becomes acting head of science), Alia Alam, Adam Pittman and Emma Whalley
- Humanities teachers Tim Whiteman (a former England and Team GB hockey player) and Chelsea Fernandes
- Modern Foreign Languages and English teacher Imogen Hancock
- Trainee English teachers Caitlin Fradley and Ebony Theaker
- Teaching assistant Lucy Wade and reprographics assistant Alison Ball
Welcoming them, Mr Powell said, “I am pleased that we have been able to bring our teaching contingent up to strength – in fact increase it – both in terms of numbers but also in terms of the calibre of teachers we have attracted to the school.
“We continue to work towards better outcomes and higher achievements for our students, and a very strong teaching body is an integral part of that improvement plan.”
