WORK STARTS ON SIX NEW AFFORDABLE HOMES IN STALHAM
Work has started to build six new affordable homes in Stalham, converting a derelict garage site into six family homes.
Victory Housing Trust chief executive John Archibald and Paul Pitcher from contractor Wellington broke the ground at the site on Campingfield Lane in the town, marking the start of the work on the £700,000 project.
Four of the new homes will be made available for affordable rent, while the other two will be available for low-cost shared ownership. The site is one of a number of former garage sites around north Norfolk that Victory is using to create new affordable homes.
Earlier this month Victory received the keys to its 200th new home built in 2017, and the start of work at the Stalham site means that it has a further 72 new homes currently on site, as well as another 79 going through the planning process.
Mr Archibald said, “We are taking every opportunity we can to build much-needed new affordable homes in the area, and our programme of redeveloping former garage sites is enabling us to boost the number of such homes that we are able to deliver to help with the pressing housing need in north Norfolk.
